Charnos Hosiery and Playtext partner with Queen of Shops Mary Portas to create the ‘Mary & Charnos’ collection to celebrate its 75th anniversary...

Mary Portas, the ‘Queen of Shops’ hired by the government to produce a review of the high street, has announced the opening of her own store in partnership with House of Fraser.

The retail expert’s concept store and collection will be aimed at grown-up women and will launch tomorrow (August 18) within the department store’s Oxford Street branch and online at houseoffraser.co.uk/maryportas.

As part of the collection, Mary has collaborated with Charnos, the classic British hosiery brand that celebrates its 75th anniversary this year. The ‘Mary & Charnos’ collection will consist of legwear designed to ‘empower women to confidently experiment with their choice of hosiery’.
The vision of the collection is to ‘empower and inspire women over the age of 40 to experiment with hosiery and feel confident in their choices.’ The range has incorporated fashionable hosiery with quality, design, and fit. The designs, inspired and designed by Mary, focus on colour and patterns.

Mary said of the collaboration: “There is a natural affinity between my own ethos and that of Charnos hosiery, which has long been associated with producing high quality, accessible, wearable style for legs. I have designed the new Mary & Charnos collection to be fabulous and fashionable, using colour and pattern to inspire women to be bolder in their choice of hosiery, yet remain ultimately stylish.”
